Changes in weather conditions and movement of tectonic plates caused the land bridges to sink beneath the sea leaving only Cebu islands...

Around 500 A.D. Cebu was part of the Malay empire, which most of the inhabitants of the island are composed of, including the famous Cebu hero - Lapu-Lapu.

Geographically, Cebu has narrow coastlines, limestone plateaus and mountains, and coastal plains. You wouldn't see it in the map, but Cebu is predominantly topped with rolling hills and rugged mountain ranges traversing the Northern and Southern lengths of the provincial island.
