Mangroves all over the sanctuary & mini-zoo
This is not my first time to visit the place but I still enjoyed it. And the nice thing about it is that, whenever you wanna catch some fresh air or just want to get away from the city (Ozamiz City), it only takes about 20-25 minutes by a commuter van.
There's an entrance fee, which is very affordable to help aid the maintenance of the place. With this contribution, it feels great to know that I become part of the improvement of the habitat they designed.
They have this mini mangrove forest where they house the monkeys, birds, crocodiles, snakes, etc. I couldn't really name them all. See them yourselves!
But,every time I visit my fave creatures are the monkeys. That's because every time I pass them by, they are like setting their puffy eyes begging me to give them something, like food, of course.
On the other side of the place, they have Shrimp Culture area and fish culture area of various kinds.
And, at the last part of MOAP, there you have to walk a distance until you reach the stop where you will see a boat that will bring you to the Dolphin Island....
So far they have recorded more than 10 bottle-nose dolphins that sought refuge and were nurtured and then were released back to the sea by the authorities managing the project.
You can see dolphins swimming, jumping or frolicking. You can do snorkeling and tour the underwater world. There you will discover more interesting creatures...
Oooops! I won't tell you yet, so that you'll get excited when you decide to visit!
MOAP is reported to have earned millions of pesos last year, and the management is positive that visitors would double or triple in the coming years.
Part of the income includes the bookings for the function rooms (for meetings, seminars, etc.) and dormitories for visitors. This place has become a favorite place for seminars, team-building activities, trainings, and other educational meetings of both government agencies and non-governmental organizations.
Misamis Occidental Aquamarine Park is located in Barangay (township) Libertad Bajo of Sinacaban Town of Misamis Occidental Province.
Hope you'll visit the place, too! (:-
